CIS Visit 17th – 24th April

Over the past week, both campuses of the Moscow Economic School underwent a live inspection by the Council of International Schools (CIS) in order to renew our re-accreditation. In order to be a member of the CIS, a school must, according to the CIS, fulfil the following requirements:

• Be devoted to its mission and vision for students

• Think deeply about the services it offers to students, family and community.

• Invest the time and resources for validation from a globally-recognized accreditation authority

• Focus on the quality of teaching, student learning, as well as student safeguarding and well-being

• Is committed to the development of the students’ global citizenship

• Has a suitable philosophy of education suitable for its students

• Promises only what it can deliver

• Is open to regular evaluation by its own school community and peer evaluators

• Constantly seeks improvement in all areas of the school plans strategically for the future.

One of the main areas of focus regarding the inspection was our Child Protection Policy. It is a CIS priority in our changing world how well the school considers the well-being and needs of children. This ranges from factors such as providing a safe learning environment, high levels of catering, and a variety of extracurricular activities provided, which aim to develop children’s skills outside the realm of academia.

The visiting team and MES board, team leaders, teachers, students, parents and staff members held a series of online meetings. We discussed issues related to safety and health, curriculum, learning environment, student nutrition, resources and technologic tools, cooperation with other organizations and our students' involvement in community social service, etc.

In both campuses were conducted live streamings covering the student’s arrival process, breakfast and lunch time and classes observations. During these streamings the visit team members were able to see the inner workings of MES: watch our students and teachers in action and learn how our school really works and had the opportunity to ask questions to students and teachers. They visited the language classes, music, drama, dance, physics, literature, science, cooking and physical education, etc.

We are proud that the Moscow Economic School thrives not only to achieve but to exceed the CIS’ requirements.
