The 4th N.M. Matyash Charity Festival «Theatrical Spring – 2021»

The 4th N.M. Matyash Charity Festival (nicknamed the Theatrical Spring 2021) was held on February 27. The best of our young performers from both Presnya and Odintsovo campus presented their acts to the audience and to the Festival Jury. In art and IT lessons, our students designed theatrical masks, costumes and posters for their productions. At the Odintsovo campus, the children recorded a video dictionary during their music and drama lessons. (They called it a “Theatrical Alphabet!”) Students at the Presnya campus created a video about the life and art of Vasily Ivanovich Lanovoy. Several years ago, he was an Honorary Guest artist at our school and he even performed in front of our parents and students.

Following this tremendous display of artistry, both MES campuses held an awards ceremony on march 11. 26 performances earned festival diplomas, and five of the Presnya students earned individual diplomas four their outstanding work. In addition to rewarding our current students, the Festival Jury awarded a separate diploma to the Class of 2020 who held their Last Call Festival and Online Graduation party online last year during the pandemic lockdown. Another award was given to MES’s friends from the public organization “Time for Change” for excerpts of their performance during the competition program.

This year we received many video congratulations from popular film actors and other celebrity friends of MES. Their kind words expressed the recognition the MES students are doing good in the world; with their creativity and charitable concerts and festivals, MES kids contribute to the MES Charitable Foundation: they help war veterans and gifted children and support people who have fallen into difficult life situations.

Our Theater Festival will end on March 27 – World Theater Day. The day before, the Odinstovo campus will host the opening of the first page of the Annals of the MES Theater Festival, a collection which will reflect the best performances of the year.
