PYP Exhibition 2021 at Presnya Campus

On March 5th, MES Presnya campus hosted the final stage of its PYP Exhibition. This was a very important day for our PYP students. They had to demonstrate their research skills while working in groups. They were all excited about the result of their teamwork and each one created an excellent presentation. During the opening ceremony, the 4th year students sang the song " PYP Exhibition " and performed an energetic dance in the style of a flash mob. At the end of the day, the students and their parents shared their thoughts about the day.
A word to the parents:
“Everything was perfect. I actually learnt a lot myself. The leaders, as well as the students in the group, were amazing. It was a phenomenal team effort!", Marina Sergeevna K.
“Public speaking is a great way for children to understand how it feels to stand in front of an audience, and overcome fear, work within time limits, practise voice pitch and much more”, Tatiana Evgenievna Z.
“The PYP exhibition is such an important event and all the children were very worried. I would suggest organising several sessions with a psychologist next year so that the children feel more confident and comfortable. All in all – great job!”, Olga V.T.
“The final stage of the PYP exhibition, dedicated to new technologies, took place yesterday. This is the 4th year that we have been, so to say, in charge. My sister Kira was happy with the choice of sports as the topic. For one part of the topic we talked about motor surfing, since we are both familiar with this sport. Both of us ride and thus have first-hand knowledge about this sport. Kira did most of the work under the careful guidance of the sports group head, Ekaterina Anatolyevna Sokolova. Our research turned out to be quite extensive and engaging and Kira learned a lot. For example, she found out that the life vest, which is an obligatory element of the outfit, is actually designed to prevent concussions when slamming into the water, instead of saving one fr om drowning!»
For the final stage of the exhibition, we decided to demonstrate a surfboard equipped with an electric motor. The exhibit included various wetsuits, a life vest, a motocross helmet, as well as other gear. I had the opportunity to demonstrate different motor surfing equipment while Kira was presenting her work. I was happy to be involved, specifically when we were collecting information. This was wh ere I was really able to help based on my experience in motor surfing and writing research papers. I believe that it is beneficial to work as a team where the leader or assistant is one of the senior students rather than just having a leader from PYP. I believe it allows for more communication, more information, more diverse experiences, and finally a more interesting presentation. The ability to switch attention from the speaker to the assistant makes it easier to follow and understand, which is especially important for the guests and PYP students. It also allows for the opportunity to meet MYP and DP students, who, in turn, can see the faces of the younger generation. This is what unites us and makes us all one team - the MES team!
